What is process serving?
Is where legal documents, that require proof of delivery to an intended recipient are delivered in person. Posting the paperwork is often not sufficient.
The person issuing the papers is known as the Claimant, Petitioner or Applicant. The person receiving would be the Defendant or Respondent.

Some examples of papers?
- Divorce petitions
- Orders to attend court
- Injunctions
- Statutory Demands
- Debt orders
- High Court writs
These papers must be delivered by hand
Here at Derby Process Servers we take pride in our work, delivering papers is a specialised job. It has to be completed correctly to ensure no issues arise from the way they were delivered.
Our staff are all highly trained, using the latest equipment to provide irrefutable proof of delivery.
You are in good hands when you use us.
If you are a solicitor, or company that has to regularly serve papers on individuals, or businesses, then we know you’ll enjoy building a working relationship with us.
Be Careful!
The UK Process Serving industry is unregulated!
Lack of regulation and control means that anyone can serve court documents, this is as long as they are not a party in the case.
Evasiveness
Beware of taking shortcuts; Under Civil Procedure Rules there are allowances, for service by letterbox, telephone, and email, amongst other methods.
The type of document being served will require a certain procedure to be followed. In some cases a minimum amount of attempts should be made.
A court may direct for other efforts to be made to trace a respondent, this is after the initial attempt has been made. It is important to get this right, and understand what process needs to be carried out. This is where an agency with experience is needed. They will be able to ensure that the correct rules are adhered to. Should a respondent require further tracing, they are able to so with their experience in private investigatory work.
Getting it right first time, saves money, saves time and saves a lot of hassle.
After Delivery
Once delivered a proof of service must be completed. This can be in the form of a Certificate, Statement or Affidavit. As trained process servers we know which is required in all circumstances.
